Below I explain a bit more of what to expect from our work together.

Adults:

I approach therapy from a strengths based, person-centered perspective.  You and I will identify your strengths and find ways to use them in your life to help you cope and grow. I look to instill a sense of hope and empowerment in my clients, to facilitate the recognition that you are capable of creating positive experiences in your life, in spite of the pain you are feeling right now. My intention is to provide a positive and enriching experience throughout the course of our time together.

I also provide EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to clients who have expereinced trauma. If this sounds like an intervention that might interest you, I encourage you to read more about this treatment process here

Children:

Like the rest of us, sometimes children are confused, anxious, angry or frightened. The sad or grieving child often struggles to understand the magnitude of his or her emotions. Verbally asking for help is hard, as children more readily communicate through behavior and play.

Play therapy is a technique I use to help children gain better understanding of their world. Through play, we build a relationship, enhance coping skills, explore experiences, and ultimately reach a place where the child can utilize strengths to handle changes in life and to fully enjoy childhood.
